Being Mommy

September 7, 2010

No major news. We're still patiently waiting for Embassy approval so that we can travel. I did get a chance to speak with a lady who adopted a little boy from the same orphanage that our daughter is from. The lady remembered seeing our daughter when she was there with her family in April of this year. Lilyanna would have been 6 months old at that time. She pretty much confirmed what we expected of the orphanage....a poor environment with lots of love!!! Few toys, few clothes, no heat, average food, but not lacking in loving care. There is one "mom" for every "casita" which usually houses about eight children, ages 1-13. Lilyanna was the youngest in her "casita" and is probably pretty attached to her "orphanage mom". This is good news! I was reassured that the orphanage staff provide a very loving environment for the children, which I was very happy to hear.

I also read an article today about adoption that touched my heart. Here is the link.
